Powering northern Taiwan and protecting coastal waters
Hsieh ho Power Plant in Keelung, in the Taipei metropolitan area, is Taiwan's only large-scale oil-fired power generating plant. Comprised of four 500MW heavy oil burners, the plant began operations in 1977 and its first two units were decommissioned in 2019 and will upgraded to two natural gas combined cycle units. PECL is providing Environmental Impact Assessment services to the project, which is challenged by its isolation from Taiwan's pipeline network and a sensitive maritime environment with numerous stakeholders.
EIA service of Hsieh-Ho power plant renewal project includes environmental survey, simulation of emission, facility safety, developing mitigation strategies and drawing up environmental monitoring plans.
