Gender Inclusion

We are committed to maintaining an inclusive culture which celebrates diversity. According to the United Nations, women comprise only 8% of students in engineering, manufacturing, and construction programs in higher education worldwide. At PECL, we do our part to combat this trend.

  • We are an industry leader in gender equality. Almost 35% of PECL's engineers are women, one of the highest rates in Taiwan. 
  • We work to eliminate the gender pay gap, ensuring that all members of the PECL family have equal access to training, development, and advancement.

Cultivating the Next Generation of Leaders

For decades, PECL played a vital role in bolstering Taiwan's economic miracle. Supporting the island's continuing economic success requires a new cadre of engineers and professionals. We have numerous programs aimed at developing the next generation of excellence.

  • Internships: Through our university outreach programs, we offer Taiwan's next generation of leaders a glimpse at what a professional career holds. Our interns work on real-world projects and participate as professionals, earning valuable professional experience.
  • Mentorships: Once a new hire joins our team, we match them with an experienced mentor that can help them navigate the workplace, imparting years of experience and wisdom. Our mentees, in turn, bring youthful dynamism and innovative new ideas.
  • New PECL employees have the opportunity to join Bechtel's international leadership programs, including the Bechtel Asia Pacific Leadership workshop, as well as Bechtel Business Unit leadership training courses.
  • Assignment Rotations: A key part of development is job rotation. We believe in cross-functional training and having exposure in a functional discipline outside of a person's chosen field. We also believe rotations into different industry markets enhances professional development. PECL is unique because its ability to offer global project assignments though our parent, Bechtel. We believe international assignments expands people's view point, increases diversity of thought, and cultivates a more inclusion company culture.

Our Diversity and Inclusion Goals

Diversity and Inclusion are ongoing efforts towards creating a fair and balanced workplace. In order to realize our aspirations, PECL has organized its own chapter of Bechtel's Diversity and Inclusion.

  • We aspire to build a talent pipeline that increases diversity at all levels of our organization.
  • We build awareness to ensure that all PECL colleagues have clear expectations and understand acceptable behaviors in the workplace.
  • We share data and are transparent in our hiring and talent development to ensure that all PECL colleagues are confident in their access to opportunity and advancement, regardless of background. We increase confidence that opportunities are awarded based on merit and that people of all backgrounds can succeed at PECL/Bechtel.
