PECL's Building Information Modelling (BIM) Center enjoys an excellent reputation in Taiwan, well-renowned for its extensive use of the latest technological advances in BIM technology. Late last year, the Center had the distinct pleasure of hosting Professors Shieh and Lin -- from National Taiwan University and National Taipei University of Technology, respectively -- and their talented students. Their visit focused on the rapid development of BIM technology in recent years, and its current industry applications. By collaborating with universities, PECL seeks to form a bridge between the classroom and industry. PECL's BIM specialists shared their experience on domestic transportation engineering projects.

One student reflected on their experience after the visit:
"Last year our class of Applications of BIM for Disaster Prevention and Engineering Management had the opportunity to visit Pacific Engineers & Constructors, Ltd. (PECL). It was an unique experience that allowed us to understand the insides of construction operations that use BIM technology to carry out national and international projects. Hearing the experience of our senior BIM specialist Honda [Liu] was amazing. He introduced his work and explained the development and implementation processes for BIM throughout the whole project lifecycle. He also commented about the important skills that would be needed and which also challenged him, but he was able to overcome during the whole process. His presentation was 'Make sure to choose the right tools for the right task'. I always have this in mind before I start any personal project I have." -- Rodrigo Ortiz, NTUT student
