PECL ushered in a new era of quality management with its official certification in ISO 9001:2015, the latest quality management standards established by the International Organization for Standardization.

ISO 9001 quality management certification is linked to higher productivity and sales and lower costs, and the 2015 upgrade represents a significant advance on the previous ISO 9001:2008 standard. The ISO 9001:2015 standard include a more risk-based approach and require a greater role for management.

PECL's compliance with the new standards were certified last March by three auditors from Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS), who spent seven man-days conducting an ISO 9001:2015 transition audit. The audit certified that PECL adhered to all the new standards.

PECL's Quality Assurance (QA) department spearheaded the drive by training in the new standards so that they could be effectively rolled out throughout the company. The QA department communicated with all PECL managers on the new standards found within the Quality Manual, including Quality System Procedures and Quality Department Procedures.

Knowledge Management Excellence
In recognition of PECL's excellence in achieving ISO 9001: 2015, SGS further nominated PECL for the 2018 ISO 9001 Plus Award. The nomination recognized PECL's implementation of parent company Bechtel's Knowledge Management (KM) system which is used to enhance project execution. The KM system is shared through the corporate Intranet according to the motto, "KM – Learn It, Do It, Share It," enabling all customers of the Bechtel family of companies to benefit from the collective knowledge and experiences gained from Bechtel and PECL projects.
