The 35th (2025) Taiwan-Japanese Modern Engineering and Technology Symposium– Railway Construction Group

Date:2025-11-18

The Taiwan-Japanese Modern Engineering and Technology Symposium–Railway Construction Group successfully concluded on November 18, 2025, at the Railway Bureau, MOTC. Representatives from industry, government, academia, and research sectors attended enthusiastically, fostering lively exchanges. This year, the Japanese speakers focused on the following three themes, which are highly relevant to the challenges currently facing Taiwan's railway construction development and are worth referencing:

(1) Japan's Railway Net-Zero Carbon Emission Technology based on the Full Life Cycle

(2) The Sustainable Innovation Path for Japan's Railway Stations and Surrounding Development – Practicing the Transformation with both Intelligence and Net-Zero

(3) Practical Cases of Railway Revitalization and Regional Promotion by Integrating Tourist Trains with Local Characteristics

Following tradition, this symposium was co-organized by the three major consulting companies: PECL, CECI and Sinotech. PECL's President Su was also invited as a guest speaker for the opening remarks. President Su introduced PECL's diversified operations, which, in addition to transportation, encompass various industry sectors such as nuclear energy, power, high-tech, and renewable energy. Taking the "Kaohsiung Station Design" as an example, he echoed the symposium's theme by explaining how the PECL team continuously reviewed green building design, smart building features, natural ventilation and lighting, canopy landscaping, and integration with local culture during the design process, transforming Kaohsiung Station from just a transit hub into a place where travelers and residents can relax.

Finally, after the symposium, the Railway Bureau hosted a dinner, and Director General Yang presented appreciation plaques to the Japanese speakers and the consulting companies.
